Meet Farida Zakariya: Best Graduating Pharmacy Student ABU Zaria Class of 2021

‘Beauty and Brain’ could be the best adjective to describe Pharmacist Farida Zakariya who emerged as the overall best graduating Pharmacy student in Ahmadu Bello University Class of 2021.

The young Farida didn’t just emerge as the overall best in her department. She came out best in all the Six departments of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and also went home with 12 awards.

She swept all the awards from professional bodies such as the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN), The Board of Fellows Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, among others.

The young genius who was inducted into the pharmacy profession on the 12th of April 2022 didn’t start strong in her first year. She was not even among the top ten (10) best in her class in the first year.

According to the young Abusite, “Going from not being top 10 in my first year to graduating as the best graduating student in the faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences with 12 awards from 6 out of 6 departments still feels like a dream.”

Farida had earlier in 2021 emerged as the Grand Winner of the Shalina Young Talents Awards (SYTA) organized by Shalina Healthcare, a leading pharmaceutical company in Nigeria.

She emerged after a keenly contested competition amongst the final-year pharmacy students in universities across Nigeria, endorsed by highly respected panel of judges made up of Deans of the Faculties of Pharmacy.

Farida is a classical example of Determination, courage, consistency, and brilliance. She is a true role model for the girl child.
