Work schedule: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.


The position is located in the Financial Management Center at the American Embassy in Abuja and reports to the Financial Management Officer.

The Class B Cashier is to provide cashiering services to the Mission community. The cashier supports 13 sub-cashiers and is authorized to provide support to 28 ICASS agencies including USDHs, LES and TDYers utilizing USD and Naira. Cash advance is $135,000 USD.


EXPERIENCE: At least four (4) years of progressively responsible work in technical accounting or bookkeeping with at least two years performing cashiering work is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess good working knowledge of local banking practices and procedures.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics is required.

LANGUAGE: Fluent writing /reading /speaking of English is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, ability to articulate complex issues and recommend appropriate solutions, ability to effectively utilize computer and financial software, excellent customer service skills, ability to delegate effectively.

Keyboard and typing skills are required where accuracy is required but speed is not important. Numerical skills for calculations and confirming financial transactions is required. Ability to use Microsoft outlook, word and excel and proprietary software is required.
