Babangida Ruma, A Key Player in the Nigerian Tech Eco-System.

Dr. Babangida Ruma is one of the key players in the Nigerian Tech Eco-system who is passionate about using technology and  innovations to impact communities and lives with sustainable digital solutions.

He is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of startups like Digital Skills Clinc a platform that trains people on technical skills, Digital Skills Bank the first skills market eco – system. Through these startups, Dr Ruma is building the future of work for talents in Africa.

With a demonstrated history of building tech startups in Nigeria, Dr Ruma founded and led Opportunities Hub A knowledge economy Industrial Complex with incorporation brand and objective of facilitating the application of Information Communications Technology (ICT) for continuing education and entrepreneurship development to Student, Unemployed Youth and unemployed Graduates, a United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Supported Hub. The OHUB Program leverages on public private partnership to drive Dual-mode entrepreneurship education access to eligible applicants, with concerted leverage on low hanging fruit funding windows from Corporate Nigeria, Development partners, International Donor Agencies, and Non-Governmental Organizations.

 

Dr Ruma is constantly reminded of the importance and value of tech talent in Nigeria and the diaspora. A prior concern for him, which was the concentration of most tech talent in Nigeria is now being solved with Skills Bank. The startup focuses on growing Skilled people.

Since starting Skills Bank a year ago, Dr Ruma has been able to connect job seekers to job providers as well as artisans to people. Skills Bank has also assisted many skilled youth to earn for a living

Alongside Digital Skills Clinic which aims to be the largest Dual Mode Online academy college, Dr Ruma started Digital Skills Clinicfollowing the rising demand for tech skills in the new world of work to give access to the market, to the in-demand skills in the market, and to have people that actually qualify to take up these positions.

Dr Ruma’s Digital Skills Clinic offers proficiency certification programs and diplomas in software engineering, entrepreneurship and Vocational Skills. The startup is also preparing to launch the school of product and blockchain and more tech schools will be launched going forward. With the Digital Skills Clinic project, Dr Ruma wants to train ten million Africans in the next eight years.
