GPON is presently operating in the Northeastern regional part of Nigeria where we have reached over 100,000 lives with relief materials, child protection services. GBV mitigation services, livelihood skill-building, health services, and Education support services.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Nutrition Associate

Location: Nigeria 
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 Months (renewable)

Job Purpose

  • Under the overall supervision of the Nutrition Officer, in coordination with the Medical Activity Coordinator, the Nutrition Associate will be responsible and accountable for the implementation of Nutrition interventions in assigned field locations, the role supports the implementation of nutrition activities within the area of intervention. The role-holder supervises and trains field level nutrition staff, performs monitoring and support supervision of field activities, guides LGA partners on program planning and participates in staff capacity building. S/he coordinates the implementation of Severe Acute Malnutrition, Moderate Acute Malnutrition practices and other supportive Nutrition programs.

Responsibilities

  • Implements a comprehensive maternal infant and young child nutrition program (MIYCN) Baby Friendly Community initiative (BFCI) approach.
  • Provides technical support to CMAM and BSFP program component within the community including ensuring awareness sessions, screening and tracking.
  • Develops and supervises an effective mother to mother support group within the area of implementation.
  • Trains and mentors the emergency response program staff and the integrated community health promoters through the identification of capacity gaps and carrying out refresher trainings and on the job trainings.
  • Develops key messages in nutrition to the targeted beneficiaries, and ensure it is delivered appropriately.
  • Offers nutrition support through counseling to individuals with medical conditions including Comprehensive Care for Clinic clients.
  • Compiles and submits donor and GPON Nutrition Program weekly, biweekly and monthly reports of all the activities implemented, as well as prepare food requisitions.
  • Liaises with Supply Chain Department in Program Supplies procurement and Monitoring Supply control.
  • Supports Data quality assessments.
  • Supervises regular follow up and management of malnutrition cases at the OTP/SC
  • Conducts and Supervises nutrition-specific value-adding activities (SBCC, Home gardening, food hygiene promotion etc.
  • Implements a social behavioral change communication strategy at the community level.
  • Plans and conducts mass MUAC screening of the under-fives on a quarterly basis in collaboration with the Community Health volunteers.
  • Performs Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • Relevant Degree in one of the following areas: Public Health, Health, and Nutrition.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant professional work experience, in implementation of health and nutrition activities and 1 (one) year Background/familiarity with Emergency.)
  • Experience in maternal-infant and young nutrition with strong BFHI & BFCI approaches
  • Experience in nutrition survey and assessments
  • Willing to work extra hours and available at the weekend for emergency cases.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and willingness to work and live in a complex context.
  • Work within the framework of GPON core values.

Job Title: Warehouse Officer

Location: Nigeria 
Employment Type: Contract

Role Purpose

  • The Warehouse Officer will be responsible to providing overall logistic services; specifically, to provide space for common pipeline storage to address the WASH sector need  under directs supervision of warehouse coordinator.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the WH coordinator with the day-to-day operational requirements for the Common WH;
  • Understand, implement, produce and / or maintain standard GPON inventory management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all dispatch and receipt documents (Receive Note/Delivery Note/Stock Transfer Sheet/Waybills) are complete and archived in compliance with GPON standards (scan documents and archive digital versions)
  • Implement daily activities in the warehouse in accordance with Logistics Sector SOPs and quality standards
  • Manage a schedule for receipt and dispatch of goods from/to Service Users (WASH Partner)
  • Manage stocks according to standard guidelines considering: individual requests/consignments per Service User; verification on Units of Measure (UoM) for handling (Bags, Bales, Boxes, etcetera), and reporting (metric tons, kilograms, cubic meters); proper documentation for all transactions (request, receipt, release), and warehouse management (stock cards, register of damages/losses).
  • Ensure physical confirmation of weight, volume and quantity of new consignments at the point of reception;
  • Ensure update of physical weights, volume and quantity of new consignments at all times;

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Management Science or related;
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Logistics;
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word;
  • Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts;
  • Strong negotiation skills; Minimum one year work experience with international/national NGOs and/or local authorities in the Nigerian context;
  • Strong listening and empathy skills, as well as commitment to supporting women and children survivors/ at risk;
  • Ability and motivation to work well with local authorities, local leaders and local community;
  • Computer literate (Word and Excel);
  • Willing to work extra hours and available at the weekend for emergency cases.
  • Technical in Warehousing management (ware house management);
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
  • Experience in leadership and problem solving;
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral including local language;
  • Ability to put up with pressure from government agencies;
  • Ability to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines;

Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Assistant

Location: Nigeria 
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 Months (renewable)
Slot: 2 Openings

Dimensions of the Role

  • The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will work closely with Monitoring and Evaluation officer, and the project officers.
  • S/he will be responsible for ensuring proper monitoring of GPON field projects and proper collection and collation of quality data of the GPON ongoing project implementation and the development and conduct data cleaning for easy and quality analysis.

Data collection tools and database design:

  • Develop tools for the collecting regular projects’ activities and performances;
  • Take part in the design of Microsoft Excel databases to store project/program accomplishment data;
  • Work with partner staff in designing both data collection tools and electronic templates;
  • Design a strategy to collect filed level information required by GOALPrime, donors and/or stakeholders;
  • Work with the M&E and program team in standardizing the project M&E tools;
  • Work with the M&E officer in designing data collection templates for surveys that needs to be conducted internally;
  • Take part in designing electronic data entry templates for mobile/tablet data collection;

Data collection and analysis:

  • Make sure the responsible persons for each and every data elements to compute project performances are assigned;
  • Closely work with front line staff and volunteers to ensure that projects data collected on timely fashion;
  • Communicate and orient responsible partners or program staff on the use of the tools they are responsible for;
  • With the support of project teams, ensure high quality monitoring data in a timely manner: collate/organize data for reporting.
  • Partake in routine monitoring missions as scheduled.
  • With the support of M&E officer, train enumerators on administration of various Environmental Health questionnaires and data collection tools related to project monitoring, baseline and evaluations.
  • Apply data cleaning techniques to ensure the quality of data collected from field;
  • Tabulate and cross-tabulate the field data for further analysis by M&E manager;
  • Identify the data quality issues and bring to the attention of the M&E manager with proposed actions;
  • Take part in the Data Quality Audits, share with program staff and document findings;
  • With the support of M&E officer, train casual staff, data entry operators on data entering.

Capacity building and supervision:

  • Train enumerator hired for special studies or assessments;
  • Organize orientation for front line staff, partners’ staff and volunteers on the monitoring tools and train them how to use data for decision making;
  • Mentor and coach frontline staff and volunteers on issues related to data collection.

Other duties:

  • Support Donor Engagement and Fund raising. Ensure that funds for continuity and scale up of Programmes/operations is secured at most 6 months into this contract.
  • Perform other task related assignment proposed by his/her supervisor/s.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 2 years’ work experience in monitoring and evaluating programs with an organization that has a robust M&E component.
  • Must be willing to travel to other LGAs to work
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English. Ability to communicate in applicable local language(s) is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience with Plan International or related non-governmental organization is preferred.
  • Experience in developing child-friendly M&E systems/tools or doing research with children is a strong asset.
