The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
UNEP’s Communication Division raises the organization’s profile, informs policies and influences attitudes, behaviour and decisions related to the environment worldwide. With a view to achieving the flexibility needed to deliver transformative actions outlined in UNEP’s Medium-Term Strategy, UNEP recently launched three Thematic Funds, providing a mechanism to pool together resources towards solutions for climate stability, for nature, and for pollution. They serve as an important complement to the Environment Fund, established in 1973 as the core financial fund of UNEP.
