NYSC Gets New Director-General, 8 New Directors Elevates Another 1,123

The Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps has promoted eight members among the Management Staff of NYSC to the position of Directors on salary grade level seventeen (17).
They are; Aremu Kehinde, Abdullahi Yusuf Baba, Amusan Oluwole Julius, Chukwu Chiwendu, Fasakin Bona Adibeli, Isa Abdulazeez Onimisi, Ibrahim Abdul Muhammed and Ahijo Yahaya
This was part of the outcome of the 2023 nationwide NYSC Senior Staff Promotion Examination that was recently held in Abuja.
Similarly, a total of One Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty-Three (1,123) staff from different cadres, comprising both junior and senior staff in the Scheme were also promoted to new grade levels in the Federal Civil Service.
While presenting letters of promotion to some of the successful candidates in her office in Abuja today, the Acting Director General of NYSC, Mrs Christy Ifeyinwa Uba congratulated them on their success in the examination.
She advised them to let the promotion spur them into greater performance in the discharge of their duties, adding that the Scheme expects more commitments, loyalty, diligence and selfless service from them.
“Promotion comes with hardwork. Let me use this medium to congratulate the successful candidates while hoping that the promotion will spur them to greater performance”, Uba said.
Speaking on behalf of all the promoted officers, Mr Abdullahi Yusuf Baba thanked members of the NYSC National Governing Board for finding them worthy of the promotion.
He promised that none of them would betray the confidence entrusted in them, as they would step up their performances in the discharge of their official engagements.
Ahmed is expected to assume office as the NYSC DG on Monday.
Eddy Megwa, NYSC spokesperson, confirmed the development on Sunday.
In November 2022,
Christy Uba, director of information and communications technology, NYSC, took over the leadership of the corps in “overseer” capacity.
Uba took over after Mohammed Fadah was removed from his position as director-general of the NYSC.
Fadah was removed over alleged incompetence, and asked to hand over to the most senior official in the corps.
Fadah’s removal came less than seven months after he assumed office — he took over in May 2022 and became the 19th person to hold the position of NYSC DG.
Announcing Uba’s appointment, Megwa had said she would act in the capacity of an “overseer”, pending the appointment of a new director-general for the corps.
