The J-Dev Foundation with support from Youth Entrepreneurship Support Hub (YES – Hub) have trained about 32 youths volunteers including young women and persons with disability on The Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War Campaign aimed at increasing and deepening youth participation as well as reduce the risk of violence in political and electoral processes in Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole. Speaking at the training, the founder of Youth Entrepreneurship Support Hub (YES – Hub), Ismail Bello, said “The Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War Campaign is designed to increase the participation of young people in Nigeria’s political and electoral process by promoting nonviolent and constructive youth engagement with political stakeholders, electoral umpire, security agencies and other stakeholders pre, during and post-election”. He further said the trained volunteers will serve as peace actors in their respective communities working with other allies and partners to ensure candidates and youth leaders’ commitments and compliance to nonviolent campaigning and peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections in Katsina State.
